That’s right folks, the decade that brought us grunge, The Fresh Prince, MTV Unplugged, and Full House is making a comeback. Sitcoms such as Full House, Will & Grace, and Rosanne are being revived due to the allure of 90’s nostalgia.
To complete the grunge renaissance, the fashion is back too!
In a recent trip to Urban Outfitters, I was amazed by what I saw. The store seemed to be a wardrobe closet on the set of Empire Records. For those of you unfamiliar with Empire Records, it was the typical Hollywood exploitation film of pop cultures hot topic. For those of us teens during the grunge era, that film signified everything that was cool, it had something for everybody. Whether you were the cool 90’s kid, the grunge kid, or the goth, the film covered every spectrum of dress and music of that era.
It’s common for fashion and music of a previous era’s to be reintroduced to new generations, but to see the appreciation for my childhood era is really cool to see. I don’t know if I’ll be moved to throw on a pair of torn jeans, a flannel, and dye my hair but I’ll probably sit back on my couch, watch The Craft, gnaw on a jawbreaker and sip on a Capri Sun in honor of the 90’s.
