As summer temperatures averaging over 110 degrees give way to cooler temperatures, it’s time to soak in the wonders of Death Valley.

3. Badwater Basin

It looks like snow but it’s actually primarily made up of salt.  A unique fact is that Badwater Basin is the lowest point in North America.

 

4. Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes

Famous for providing the backdrop for some of Hollywood’s biggest films, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes offers easy access off the main road.

5.  Amargosa Opera House

For the history buff in the family, make sure to stop at the Amargosa Opera House.   Dating back to the Borax mining boom of the 1920’s the opera house offers tours which can be booked at the adjacent  historic Amargosa Hotel.
